Fangirls! I’m super excited to be talking about this comic this week. It was suggested to me by an employee at my local comic shop, and I’m so glad I picked it up. I loved the Bunker way more than I thought I would. This comic begins a tale of friendship & the future, in the most intense of ways.

This comic is amazing and I want you all to experience it for yourselves, but I couldn’t help but spill the beans & include some major spoilers! So get outta’ here if you plan on reading this series spoiler free!

In this first issue, five friends are headed out to the woods to plant a time capsule that they’ve compiled. The friends are getting together for what seems to be one of their last days together, I’m assuming they’re graduating college from the sounds of things. One of the group, Grady, starts digging and uncovers something incredible. You guessed it, a bunker. But not just any bunker. This bunker has the name of everyone in the group, with the exception of one, Billy Ryder. In the bunker, are letter’s from each of their future selves telling them quite an intense story.

Each of these friends has a hand in bringing the world to its end. Somewhere along the line of their lives, each of these friends does something that causes the apocalypse. So like, woah. Each of them, except Billy because he didn’t receive a letter, tries to process what they read and try to decide if they believe it or not. At first, they think its a prank, but they then realize that some of the things in their letters are things that only they themselves could know. Each of them react quite differently, and each of their letters kind of follow the same idea.

Each letter goes through the future of the person, the parts that are relevant to the end of the world at least. They say where their lives lead, and how that impacted certain things to unfold which caused life to come to a halt. The letters also seem to tell them that they need to let the events which unfold happen. They seem to just be enlightening them as to what becomes of them. But Grady’s seems to be a bit different.

The other letters seem to be from each of the friend’s future selves, but the comic shows that Grady’s is signed by Billy Ryder, the friend with no letter. The comic shows parts of what the letter says, and it appears to be written from Grady’s future self, but then is signed by Billy. This took me a second to understand, but it’s obvious that Billy signed it, not Grady. Billy tells Grady that he becomes president, and that he has to make sure that he lets this stuff happen.

So I’m left scratching my head as to why these people wanted to warn there past selves about what happens, but then insist that they let it happen. I’m wondering why they didn’t just let time work out it does. Then, while I’m pondering this, comes along a huge plot twist, of course. Everyone leaves the bunker except Billy, curious as to why he doesn’t seem to be a part of this. When, future Grady comes in and greets Billy. Woah.

This comic has been going digitally for a year-ish. I’m not sure when they’ll be printing a second issue, but I sure hope it is soon. The story has been continuing online, and have definitely been considering just starting to get more involved on there so I can get to the story sooner. Because damn was this comic good. The illustration is also gorgeous and very unique. I could look at it all day.
