Fangirls! Earlier this week, I stat down to work on a gift for my best friend. I found a perfect print for her, but I wanted to make the frame special too. When I was purchasing something at a craft store, I saw that a little bad of metal studs were on sale for just a few bucks. So, I picked them up, went and bought a frame, and got to work.

This was so, so easy, and cheap to. As I’ve mentioned in previous diy articles, I love the cheap Mainstays frames at Walmart. They’re inexpensive, but not flimsy, and work great for so many things. The print I got for my friend was 8×10, and since I wanted to make a border of studs, I got one size bigger. It was just $4.

From there, I removed the glass and the paper, then took the thicker white back of the frame to use to make the border. I flipped it over to the black side, and then got out my studs. I bought titanium colored triangle studs, I thought that she would like those the most. These little dudes are sharp as fuck, Fangirls. Be careful. I pricked my finger more than once and ended up bleeding a bit and needed to get a band aid. So, watch out for these guys.

So, I took the studs and pushed them through that thick backing paper stuff. To secure these dudes in their, you have to bend the little spikes, which it what resulted in my bleeding, so, I just punched them through, and waited until they were all in there. Then, I took a hammer, and lightly hammered all the spikes down. Before I did this, I also placed them all along the border to set out my pattern to make sure I didn’t get going crooked as I punched them in.

Once they were all in, that’s it! Just pop whatever picture you want in there and pop the glass & board back in the frame. I still had to wait for the print to come in the mail, so a piece of paper had to do so that you all could get the effect.
